The United States is expected to release military assistance worth USD 337 million to Pakistan under the Coalition Support Fund in the next few days.

A Finance Ministry official familiar with the matter said that the Obama administration has notified the U.S. Congress about its intention to release the fund after a mandatory 15-day notice period expired this weekend, reported The Express Tribune.

Military aid from the U.S. has increased in recent months even as the civilian aid to the Islamic republic continues to dry up. A key reason for the rise in disbursements is Operation Zarb-e-Azb, which was initiated last year to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan. It is treated as part of the larger global campaign against terrorism.
