A senior Obama administration official has reportedly said that the United States would retaliate against Syria if President Bashar al-Assad's army decides to come after American planes conducting air strikes in the country.

According to the Fox News, officials said that the U.S. has a good knowledge of where the Syrian air defenses, along with their command and control centers, are located. Therefore, if Assad uses force to threaten U.S. forces, it would put his air defenses at risk.

President Barack Obama recently announced his "game plan" to conduct air strikes targeting the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria as part of a broad campaign to take on the group. No air strikes have been conducted in Syria so far.
