A US civil court has awarded a woman a woman from Texas 500,000 dollars after her former boyfriend of seven years posted images and videos from their relationship on YouTube and other sites as a way to harass her after their breakup.
The anonymous woman told ABC that her boyfriend updated her on how many people had seen it, or downloaded it.
While the former boyfriend is reportedly planning to appeal the suit, this civil case has been more successful than others that often fall into a legal gray area, the Verge reported.
A case in New York that had attempted to use laws against harassment and public display of offensive material had been thrown out last month.
