Idea of Pink ball in the first day and night Test should be used as a one-off experiment, as per Tony Irish, chief executive of the South African Cricketer's Association.

He added that the players understand the possible commercial benefits of experimenting with the new ball and are ready to try it.

Irish believes the views of the players should be taken into account before planning to persist with the new ball, insisting messing with Test format could encounter big problems in future.

According to Sport24, Irish revealed that the pink ball experiment was done in the Africa Cup, but it was abandoned just before the T20 due to players' concerns.

Meanwhile, Australian chief James Sutherland has backed the idea, saying that if they don't bring any change, then they are putting the format into risk.

New Zealand and Australia will play the historic Test at Adelaide commencing from November 27.
