Fresh snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Friday evening caused the mercury to plunge at various places across both the states.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had on Thursday issued a warning for heavy to very heavy snowfall at isolated places in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours beginning Friday morning.
IMD had predicted that the popular hill stations like Mussoorie, Nainital and Chakrata would also receive light to moderate rain and snow during the same period.
In Uttarakhand, Harsil received fresh snowfall on Friday evening while in Himachal Pradesh Kufri received some snowfall. In Kufri, tourists enjoyed the snowfall.
Earlier this month, higher reaches of different districts in Himachal Pradesh had experiencing snowfall which further intensified the present cold wave in the state.
