Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has reportedly dropped a hint that he might be naming his fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie as Manchester United's captain after he takes charge of the club, which may be as soon as this week.

Van Gaal, who looks set to take over at Old Trafford as soon as this week, said that Van Persie plays very well, adding that now he is coming from a bad injury and he scores a fantastic goal after the striker netted a goal against Ecuador in a pre-World Cup friendly.

According to the Mirror, the Dutchman said that he is happy with the striker, as he had been pressing even after returning from an injury, but added that he is also a good captain.

Van Gaal added that always one makes a player captain when one has more or less the same philosophy, not only about football tactics but also about life.

The Dutch manager said that he believes Van Persie and Van Gaal both have the same philosophy about life.
