Former World No.1 Venus Williams hit a 209 km/h serve during her quarterfinal match against Eugenie Bouchard at the WTA Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, but it was not considered as a record because the company collecting data was not IDS.

According to TennisWorldUSA.org, Venus expressed that she knows she has been serving a lot harder in the tournament after coming back from a back injury, adding that it felt good but she did not know whether it was that hard.

WTA recognizes serve speeds only by IDS for record purposes, the report said.

Venus is through to the semis after scoring some big wins this week and takes on Czech Petra Kvitova for a place in the final, the report added.

The seven-time grand slam champion is now ranked no. 62 in the world but will be back in the top 50 next week, the report further said.
