Veteran England pacer James Anderson has insisted that the influence of senior players and their advice to captain Alastair Cook are crucial for the success of the team.

Cook is expected to shoulder more of the burden for team affairs under the regime of Peter Moores, with the intention is that it will be Cook's team, which happens to be coached by Moores.

According to The Independent, Anderson said that he does not think that senior players helped as much as they could with taking pressure off Cook over the winter, adding that a captain needs his senior players around him to share the difficult burden.

Anderson, who has played 79 Tests with Cook for England, also said that he believes Cook is the sort of player that looks to improve constantly, adding that he will be able to thrive on the responsibility that he will be given.
