'Veteran' Giggs appointed as new Man U 'player-coach'

Veteran Manchester United player Ryan Giggs has signed a contract with the club and new boss David Moyes to continue playing next season and will combine this role with coaching at Old Trafford.

According to the Mirror, the legend, who is due to obtain his UEFA Pro Licence next summer, will undertake duties with immediate effect with the new boss.

Thrilled to be a part of Moyes' coaching staff, the Welshman said that he hopes that he will be able to bring his experience to bear, having been both a player and part of the Manchester United family for a long time, adding that he looked forward to working alongside Moyes and the team.

 

According to Giggs, it is no secret that he has been taking his qualifications, adding that he viewed his appointment as the first step in his future career

Expressing his pleasure at the appointment, Moyes said that Giggs is the perfect role model for any young player, adding that his success and ability to adapt his game over a number of years gives him an unrivalled perspective on the modern game.

Moyes further said that Giggs' career is an example to any aspiring young player, adding that he is confident that both Giggs and the players will benefit from his new role.
