Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel put Ferrari back on track as he fended off Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton to win season-opening Australian Gran Prix at Melbourne's lakeside Albert Park Circuit in Johannesburg on Sunday.
The Ferrari driver, who clocked his best lap in one minute and 24.11.670 seconds, was 9.9 seconds quicker than Hamilton, who started in pole position, Sport24 reported.
It should be noted that the victory was Vettel's first win since the Singapore Grand Prix in September 2015.
While Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes made his first podium finish at the third place, Kimi Raikkonen crossed the line in fourth place as he held off Max Verstappen.
Felipe Massa of Williams was sixth quickest followed by Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat.
