Vice-President Hamid Ansari will pay an official visit to Lao (People's Democratic Republic) PDR from September 17 to 18 at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith.
He will be accompanied by Minister of State for Water Resources, Sanwar Lal Jat, four Members of Parliament, senior officials and media.
India and Lao PDR enjoy warm and friendly ties emanating from shared age old civilizational ties. Economic cooperation in infrastructure building and capacity building in human resources, IT and education among others are benefitting the people of both the countries.
During the visit he will meeting Vorachith, President Choummaly Sayasone , Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thongloun Sisoulith and the Vice President of the National Assembly of Lao PDR, Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
In his meetings with the Lao leaders, Vice President Ansari will be discussing bilateral issues and cooperation in ASEAN, MGC and other multilateral fora.
