Former world number one Victoria Azarenka on Monday became a proud mother to a baby boy.
"Today I had my hardest fight and my very best victory! Our son was born healthy and happy! So thankful and blessed! Thank you," Azarenka confirmed the news on her Facebook page along with a picture.
Azarenka had earlier expressed confidence that she will return in time to compete for most of the tournaments in the 2017 season.
The two-time Grand Slam champion had earlier in July cut her season short after announcing that she was pregnant.
Azarenka had written: "I have some exciting news to share with you. It's been a few weeks since you last heard from me."
Since winning the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, Azarenka has struggled with injury problems but looked to be back to her best when she won titles in Indian Wells and Miami in March.
At that stage she looked the most likely challenger to Serena Williams at the top of the game but a knee problem forced her to retire during her first-round match at the French Open and was the reason given for her Wimbledon withdrawal.
