Victoria Beckham, who is a former Spice Girl, known for tight dresses, killer heels and a talent for pouting, has revealed how she ended up creating a credible fashion empire with a turnover of more than 30m pounds.
The 40-year-old, who doesn't design her clothes like many of the designers who head successful international labels, said that she has a different way of expressing herself because she hasn't had that formal training, the Independent reported.
Beckham, who claims that she learnt a lot very quickly in the last seven years and continues to learn, has learnt to direct her team towards a goal she determines.
Beckham, whose opinions seem single-minded and decidedly hers, added that she still put all of the clothes on herself because she wants to see how they feel, how do I look, is it comfortable, is it flattering. Basic things that she started with are still very important to her.
Beckham, who launched her line in 2008, said that when she first started, she used to wear lots of tight dresses, lots of heels and she does still dress like that, but as time has gone on, she has loosened up a little bit.
Beckham, who spends a lot of time in her shop, talking to her customer, finding out what she wants, claims that her clothes are good, but they reflect the fashion of the time, rather than defining it.
She said that times change as certain things she wore then felt right then, but it wouldn't feel right now.
She concluded that even if she wouldn't wear something herself, she thinks she knows how women feel, how women want to look as she can really relate to women and get on very well with women, but some women don't, adding that she wants to empower women, make women feel the best version of themselves.
