Brits have gone bicycle bonkers since the success of Olympic heroes Sir Bradley Wiggins, Victoria Pendleton and others as cycle sales have soared 14 percent in the six months to the end of September.
According to the Mirror, that included 290,00 pricey bikes, such as Chris Boardman's highly rated range and 160,000 bicycles for children.
Wheely good cycle sales have helped bike chain Halfords steer the business around, the report said.
Store sales overall grew 7.7 percent to 424 million pounds in a boost to plans by new boss Matt Davies to revive Halfords' fortunes, the report added.
Along with children's bikes, Davies predicted a 150-pound Batman-theme motorised car would be the big seller this Christmas, according to the report.
