Congress leader Vidya Stokes on Wednesday withdrew petition from the Himachal High Court challenging rejection of her nomination by the Election Commission (EC).
Stokes, who was to represent Congress at Theog Assembly constituency, had filed her nomination on Monday, but the papers were rejected by the SDM-cum-Returning Officer (RO) a day after due to "technical reasons".
The SDM pointed out that the Congress had not withdrawn the name of Deepak Rathore, who was also in the running from the same constituency.
Rathore was announced as the party's candidate on Sunday but upon Stokes' insistence she was handed over the ticket of Theog constituency on Monday.
However, as two candidates from the Congress ended up filing their nomination from the same place, Stokes' nomination was rejected.
Meanwhile, Deepak Rathore has been named as Congress' official candidate from Theog.
