Viggo Mortensen, who played the character Aragorn in Lord of the Rings trilogy, has described that filming of the project was "sloppy".

During an interview with The Telegraph, the 55-year-old actor revealed that the production had a lot of shooting units and the films needed massive reshoots, and had the first film not been a huge success, he wouldn't have been paid for extra work, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The second and third ones would have gone straight to video, he added.

Mortensen continued saying that the first in the Rings trilogy, 'The Fellowship of the Ring', was the best of the three as the script was better organized, but subtleness was gradually got lost in the second and third parts.
