Reports of violent clashes are trickling in from West Bengal between the ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M).
Clashes in Haroa in Basirhat constituency which falls under North 24 Parganas, in West Bengal, saw more than 20 people injured between TMC and CPM workers. Nine injured people has been admitted to the hospital. This follows allegations of rigging made by state opposition parties against the ruling TMC over the past few phases of the polls.
CPI-M leader, Sitaram Yechury alleged that the TMC is terrorising people in WB, but the EC it seems is concentrating on only one constituency in India.
"This phase has been very very violent across the state. Bombs are being hurled, people are roaming around freely with firearms. The Election Commission is treating this as presidential elections, concentrating on high-profile constituencies and ignoring the rest," Yechury said.
Meanwhile, reports are also pouring in where five people has also been injured in a clash with TMC and Congress workers in Berhampore.
The last phase of polls is witnessing atleast 17 seats in West Bengal going to the polls-the highest the state has witnesses in these elections.
