Viswa Bharati suspends three students for alleged sexual harassment of girl student

Viswa Bharati University today suspended three of its students deemed to being involved in the case of alleged sexual harassment of a girl student pending further investigation.

Earlier, the authorities of the Viswa Bharati today lodged an FIR complaining about alleged sexual harrassment against one of the institute's girl student .

Confirming the lodging of an FIR in this case, Bolpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Surya Prasad Yadav said, "One complaint regarding sexual harassment of one girl of ViswaBharati has been lodged by proctor of ViswaBharati so we are investigating the matter. They have just lodged the FIR."

The victim a student of the university's Kala Bhavan complained that three of her seniors had sexually harassed and molested her and allegedly made an obscene MMS and were blackmailing her with it.

 

On Thursday, the father of the girl came to Santiniketan. He met the university authority and demanded immediate action against those students. However, the father had alleged in Thursday that he was persuaded by the college authorities not to file a police complaint.
