A new study has revealed that healthy people don't need Vitamin D supplements.

Researchers have found that there is no need to prescribe vitamin D supplements to healthy people in order to reduce the risk of diseases or fractures, as there was no significant reduction in risk in any area, the BBC reported.

The research team, from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, looked at existing randomized controlled trials of vitamin D supplements, and found that vitamin D supplementation do not change the relative risk of heart disease, stroke or cerebrovascular disease, cancer and fractures.

The study also revealed that there is uncertainty regarding whether vitamin D, with or without calcium, reduces the risk of death.
