Volcanic ash causes Bali airport to shut down again

Indonesia's Bali airport has been shut down again due to ash from a volcanic eruption, authorities said.

According to the transport ministry, Denpasar airport is expected to remain closed until at least evening as Mount Raung in east Java continues to spew ash into the air for almost a week now, raising fears it could interfere with aircraft safety, reported the BBC.

The ministry added that they will continue to monitor developments and decide if the closure needs to be extended later.

The shut down comes just a day after the airport reopened on Saturday.

Mount Raung is just 120 km from Denpasar airport.

Bali is a top destination for tourists, many of whom have been stranded due to the closure.
