Europe's biggest car maker, Volkswagen reportedly saw a 5.5% rise in its unit sales in the first six months of 2013.
According to News.com.au, Volkswagen in its statement said that its vehicle deliveries grew to 4.7 million in the first half of 2013 from 4.45 million in the year-earlier period.
The report said that in June alone, the company sold a total of 8,27,800 vehicles worldwide, accounting for 3.7% more than a year earlier.
Sales chief Christian Klingler said that Volkswagen deliveries made satisfactory progress even though market conditions were not always easy and added that the company is entering the second half of the year with confidence even if the enormous challenges persist.
The first-half sales of Volkswagen alone were up 4.4% at 2.91 million, with strongest growth seen in China.
Volkswagen further said that unit sales edged up by 0.2% over the first half of the year in the commercial vehicles division, the report added.
