German carmaker Volkswagen has recalled more than 2.6 million cars worldwide, about one-third of them in China, over problems with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission and headlights.
The vehicles recalled include the popular Golf and Polo small cars, the Tiguan SUV and Amarok utility.
The owners of popular cars, such as the Golf and Polo, as well as other variants fitted with the same transmission, have been recalled to have transmission fluid changed from a synthetic product to a mineral oil, which is said to be better suited to stop-and-go driving, as well as hot and humid climate, Stuff.co.nz reports.
According to the report, the Tiguan small SUV has been separately recalled for issues with its headlights.
The company said it will change fuses in about 800,000 Tiguan vehicles built between 2008 and 2011.
The third recall has been made for nearly 240,000 Volkswagen Amarok Utes, which must be checked for fuel leaks, the report added.
