Backing the Supreme Court's rejection of the Special Task Force's (STF) involvement in the Vyapam investigation, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday said he is extremely grateful.
"We are extremely grateful to the Supreme Court that they have outrightly rejected the request of the state government and the CBI to allow the Special Task Force (STF) to investigate and prosecute those cases which have been chargesheeted," Singh told ANI.
"This is a ploy to allow the STF to help the accused rather than prosecuting the accused. Therefore, we are very happy that honourable Supreme Court has categorically refused that, and they have asked to take over all cases and appoint prosecutors within three weeks," added Singh.
Earlier, the CBI had on July 16 approached the apex court with the plea, saying that transfer of more than 185 Vyapam scam cases from SIT to CBI will take time and the state investigating agencies be allowed to file chargesheets in the cases in which the probe is complete.
