Walkers find live explosives near a park in Jalpaiguri District

Walkers came across live explosives kept near a park in the town of Falakata in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri District, and they were defused by the police and the bomb disposal squad.

In the wee hours of Sunday, residents discovered some suspicious device lying abandoned in the park. Within no time, police were informed and they took charge of the situation.

Police and bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to the site and surrounded the timed explosive timed at 1.30 a.m with sandbags.

Last year, five people were killed and nine others injured when a bomb tied to a bicycle exploded in Jalpaiguri district.

The blast took place two days ahead of the foundation day of Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), which came up in 1996.

 

Reportedly, Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) militants triggered this bomb blast in the district.
