Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared with United States President Barack Obama and Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott the story of Walter Griffin, who has a connection with all three nations.
The official twitter handle of the Prime Minister's Office shared a glimpse of the conversation between the three leaders.
"Walter Burley Griffin, the well known American architect designed Canberra. His final resting place is at Lucknow Christian Cemetery," said PMO's twitter handle.
"Walter Burley Griffin was deeply inspired by the culture and architecture of India. He also spent time in India," it added.
Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin also spoke about the talks between Prime Minister Modi, President Obama and Prime Minister Abbott.
"The life of Walter Burley Griffin is a common link among USA-Australia-India which r leaders appreciated," he tweeted.
"@PMOIndia Here lies buried the man whose fascinating story from US to Australia to India was shared by our leaders," he added, sharing a photograph of Griffin's grave in Lucknow.
Born in a suburb on Chicago in 1876, Walter Burley Griffin was an American architect who designed the Australian capital, Canberra, after getting selected following an international competition.
Later, he also won a contract for and designed the University of Lucknow. He sustained a fatal illness while the construction of the university was in progress. Griffin was buried at the Lucknow Christian Cemetery in 1937.
