Asserting that the recently launched Kisan channel is an open university for agriculture and irrigation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that he wants to build an army from within the poor to fight against poverty.
"We have launched three programs to ensure social security of people of the nation; it's an important initiative towards social security. I want to build an army from within the poor to fight against poverty. Kisaan channel is important for me, I see the future through Kisan channel, it's an open university for agriculture and irrigation," said Prime Minister Modi while addressing the nation in his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme.
"Kisaan channel also have information related to fishing and animal husbandry. Along with agriculture, irrigation and animal husbandry can also contribute to economic growth of country," he added.
Prime Minister Modi had on Tuesday launched the Kisan TV channel for farmers emphasising that the channel is an effort by the government to reach out to the farmers.
