Legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis has said that it is impossible to legalise ball tampering and is calling for uniformity in the rules when punishing players in cricket.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Younis was the first player to get a suspension from one ODI for ball tampering during 2000.

He took 373 wickets in 87 test matches and another 416 in 262 one-day internationals before retiring in 2003, the report said.

Younis said that if ball tampering was legalized, there would be a lot of swing and so he does not see it to be possible.

In the past former bowling greats like Pakistan's Imran Khan and New Zealand's Richard Hadlee have said ball tampering should be legalized, the report added.
