Pakistan cricket team coach Waqar Younis has warned his team to be prepared for a backlash from wounded Australia in the second Test following the visitors 221-run loss in the first Test in Dubai.
Pakistan now seek their first series win over Australia for 20 years in the second Test starting in Abu Dhabi from Thursday. But, Waqar, who had been a member of the team that last beat Australia in Pakistan in 1994, warned Australia would hit back.
Waqar said that they have won the first Test but it's a long way to go, the second Test would be tough, and added that they all know that Australia is very positive about their cricket and they feel hurt, Sport24 reported.
He said that Australia would bounce back, and Pakistan has to be prepared for that.
Pakistan has an extra incentive to win the second Test as besides the elusive series win they would also jump to number three in Test rankings.
Waqar admitted being number three is big but for him consistency is more important. He said that to come into the top three is a big thing, but added that besides coming into the top three, consistency is more important for him because Pakistan has always been unpredictable, some times up and then down, so they need to give consistent performances.
The coach said that the message is simple: don't give up, the series is not finished, adding that there is a second Test and Pakistan has to win the second Test and have to work hard consistently every day to win the series.
