Former Australian spinner Shane Warne has revealed that he still did not understand the mystery behind the 'ball of the century' he bowled to get Mike Gatting out in 1993, adding that it was a fluke and he was lucky.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, this year's Ashes series, which will start at Trent Bridge on Wednesday, coincides with the 20th anniversary of Warne's astonishing dismissal of Mike Gatting at Old Trafford.
Gatting, who was on the wrong end of the impressive delivery, said that he was content to be central to such a prominent episode in Ashes history.
The report also said that the wicket had remained Warne's signature in his career despite the 707 other Test wickets he took during his time.
Both Shane Warne and Mike Gatting will feature in interviews in a Cricket Australia digital series chronicling 13 great Ashes moments, the report added.
