Australian opener David Warner is expected to plead guilty before a Cricket Australia (CA) hearing via teleconference from India with regard to a series of hostile tweets that he directed at News Limited journalists Robert Craddock and Malcolm Conn while playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Warner could face sanctions ranging from a fine, suspension, reprimand or counseling after being reported under CA's code of behaviour, News.com.au reports.
According to the report, Warner will incur a 5750 dollars fine for his breach of the Rule 6 offence, which states that players and officials must not engage in unbecoming behaviour to a representative player or official that could either bring them or the game of cricket into disrepute or be harmful to the interests of cricket.
Cricket Australia boss James Sutherland has said that he does not want the exceptional cricketer to 'go into his shell' and the hearing is a platform to let the players know and understand where the lines are drawn.
Skipper Michael Clarke has backed Warner, saying that he is confident that Warner's constant growth over the past few years has made him all the more capable of securing the Australian captaincy in the future, adding that he yearns to see Warner around the Australian team now that he has apologized for his unacceptable behaviour.
