A company that brought out a device, known as the Miracle Machine, which could turn water along with grape concentrate and yeast into wine in as little as three days, have now said that it was all a hoax.
The Miracle Machine founders had promised a Kickstarter launch, but that debut never materialized, as it was just a hook to get people to sign up for more information, CNET reported.
People who signed up or that now get an e-mail leading them to a video about Wine to Water, a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to supplying clean drinking water to people in need around the globe.
The stunt was orchestrated to raise awareness of Wine to Water and drive donations and volunteers to the cause.
