Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has hailed his team's Twenty20 squad, saying that it is the 'best squad' that they have ever assembled in the shortest format of the game.

Watson has been part of four squads that have failed to lift the only piece of major cricket silverware to elude Australia, with the most recent attempt in 2012 when Australia fell at the semi-final stage against eventual winners West Indies.

According to News.com.au, with Cricket Australia (CA) increasing their attention to the shortest format, Watson, who was twice crowned Player of the Series in the Indian Premier League (IPL), said that Australia has never been better placed to win a maiden T20 World Cup then they are now.

Watson further said that their T20 squad is the most balanced and versatile national squad in the shortest format that he has ever been involved in, adding that they have firepower in their batting order and have high-quality opening bowlers, death bowlers and spinners.

Watson also said that in all conditions, against any opposition they can match up well, adding that although T20 cricket is fickle, they have a chance of winning the World Cup as they have a lot of match-winner in their team.

Australia's T20 World Cup campaign starts on March 23 against Pakistan in Bangladesh, the report added.
