Swiss star Stanislas Wawrinka has edged out Czech Tomas Berdych in their semi-final match on Thursday to book an Australian Open final berth.
Eighth seed Wawrinka, who had ousted Serbian champion Novak Djokovic in a four-hour five-setter two days earlier, booked his place by beating seventh seed Berdych 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) in a serve-dominated clash.
Wawrinka will now face either his compatriot and 17-time Major champion Roger Federer or world number one Rafael Nadal, depending on the latter duo's semi-final clash on Friday, in the finals.
