We are still years away from autonomous vehicles taking over our roads. In a latest instance which makes us question the safety of self-driven vehicles, a Waymo minivan was involved in a crash in Chandler, Arizona.

The self-driving minivan was in autonomous mode with an occupant behind the wheel at the time of the crash who sustained minor injuries.

The police said that a Honda sedan which was traveling eastbound had to swerve to avoid striking a vehicle. In doing so, it ended up striking the Waymo vehicle which was travelling at a slow speed and in autonomous mode, The Verge has reported.

Self-driving vehicles might be the future of transportation. However, they lack the intelligence required to maneuver according to the real-time situations on the road.

In March, Uber's self-driving vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian. This compelled the cab aggregator to stall all of its autonomous vehicle tests nationwide.
