Counting of votes for the civic polls in Murshidabad, West Bengal, began on Tuesday amid tight security.

The devastating earthquake in Nepal had disrupted the civic polls as tremors were felt in the state on Saturday.

Polling for 91 municipalities across West Bengal was underway on Saturday when the tremors were felt in various parts of the state.

A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was also shot dead in front of a booth in Katwa Municipality Ward number 14 of Budwan district during the polls.

Around 74 lakh people are eligible to vote for 763 candidates, who are contesting the civic polls this year.
