West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Tuesday said that legislators should maintain some standards and decorum as they are representatives of the people.
"Legislators of every state should maintain some standard about their behaviour," Tripathi told ANI.
He was reacting to Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Sudip Roy Burman picking up the mace lying on the Speaker's table and flee from the House during the Tripura Assembly.
He took this step after the speaker refused to allow a discussion on a sex scandal, involving Forest and Rural Development Minister Naresh Jamatia.
However, later, Marshal of the Assembly Arun Chandra Das recovered the mace from Roy Barman and reinstated it.
