WB: Locals protest after TMC worker shot dead in Hooghly

A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in West Bengal's Hooghly District.

The worker has been identified as Akhtar Ali. Following his killing, locals have staged a protest in the district and are demanding that the attackers should be arrested by the police as early as possible.

West Bengal will go for the second phase of polling on Sunday for 56 seats.

Voting will be held in Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Malda and Birbhum districts to decide the fate 383 candidates.
