Boxer Amir Khan, who got married to a New York heiress last month in a series of Muslim ceremonies, has compared his wedding with going 12 rounds in the ring.

The two-times world champ told the Daily Star that tying the knot with Faryal Makhdoom, 20, was more exhausting than any of his fights.

Khan said that he thought fighting was hard but their wedding schedule, which included marriage in New York and then more celebrations in Manchester, was more tiring.

The celebrations lasted about two weeks with about eight different events.

The 2004 Olympic silver medallist said that it was like doing 12 rounds -12 rounds every time as every day there was something new with hundreds of people.

However, he also admitted that "married life is cool.
