Traffic violators can come up with the worst and funny excuses at times and a French cop has decided to publish a volume of the most amusing and imaginative explanations and excuses that he has heard in more than a decade.
Alexandre Despretz, who has been patrolling the streets of Paris for 11 years, said that every day was a barrel of laughs, the Independent reported.
Despretz, who has published two similar works in the form of cartoon strips, asserted that he does not make up a word and he writes it all down just the way that the motorists say it.
Some of the top amusing excuses to escape from fine came as there was a motorist who was so drunk that he could not stand up straight and he explained resentfully that he drives sitting down.
Another funny excuse was when a motorist, who failed a breath test, claimed that he must have eaten too much boeuf bourguignon i.e. a beef stew cooked slowly in red wine.
According to the 41-year-old cop, speeding drivers frequently use the classic excuse that their wife was having a baby and there are times when one also faces a brutally honest driver.
