Three Israelis have been stabbed to death in an attack in the West Bank amid the violence in Jerusalem, Israeli officials have said.
The attack comes following the soaring violence between Israelis and Palestinians, as tensions have risen over the new security measures put in place at a holy shrine in Jerusalem, reports the Independent.
The Israeli Army revealed that the assailant, who slipped into the settlement under cover of darkness to carry out his attack, was identified as a 19-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank village of Khobar near Ramallah.
Two died in Palestinian neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem after the Friday prayers, during which thousands of Palestinians prayed in the streets around the Old City after refusing to enter the compound known to Muslims as the Haram al-Sharif, which houses the al-Aqsa mosque. A third victim died later in Ramallah.
