Amidst reports of a suspected chemical attack in Syria's Douma, which claimed over 40 civilian lives, United Nations (UN) Security Council held an emergency meeting in connection with the same, on Monday.
According to RT, the Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, during the meeting, mentioned that his nation was "deeply disturbed" by the fact that some countries, including the US, UK and France, have without any justification adopted an adversarial stance towards Russia and Syria.
He went on to say that Moscow recently faced "slander, hawkish rhetoric, sanctions, blackmail and even threats of force."
Slamming the Western countries for a display of animosity that their countries "did not take the liberty" to unleash even during the Cold War, he said Russia has been "inexcusably threatened."
Claiming beyond doubt that the suspected chemical attack in Syria was orchestrated, he urged the UN to impartially probe into the reported incident.
Questioning the evidence provided by the aide group The White Helmets, he deemed the scene of the alleged chemical strike to be fraudulent, wondering how a bomb that struck the roof of a building fell on a wooden bed without even damaging it.
