Rajya Sabha passed the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill on Friday in the last parliamentary session of the UPA-II government.
The Bill, which provides for protection of whistleblowers, will become law after the President's assent.
The Whistle Blowers Protection Bill was approved by the Cabinet of India in 2011 as part of a drive to eliminate corruption in the country's bureaucracy. It was passed by the Lok Sabha on 27 December 2011.
It is meant to protect anyone who exposes alleged wrongdoing and the wrongdoing might take the form of fraud, corruption or mismanagement.
