WHO vows to disclose full report reviewing its Ebola response amid mounting criticism

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reportedly vowed to make public a full review of its response to the deadly Ebola epidemic once the disease is contained.

An internal document that was leaked earlier described the agency's response as "botched" and "riddled with incompetence," reported the CNN.

The report said that the WHO failed to see "some fairly plain writing on the wall" and that "a perfect storm was brewing, ready to burst open in full force." A timeline of the Ebola epidemic showed that the agency missed crucial opportunities to stop the spread of the outbreak after it was first diagnosed in West Africa. The document also accused WHO experts of failing to see that traditional methods of containment wouldn't work in the region.

Terming the leaked document a "first-draft" and one that had not been fact-checked or reviewed by its staff, the organization said that the full review will come only later on as it cannot afford to divert the limited resources from the urgent response to review the past response.
