Why Courtney Love is not producing 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck' documentary

Director Brett Morgen of the documentary about Kurt Cobain, dubbed as 'Kurt Cobain

According to the Hollywood Reporter, said that everybody agreed that because American singer was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn't given creative control.

Even though, the 50-year-old was the one who first approached Morgen in 2007 to make a doc about the late Nirvana frontman, who killed himself in 1994.

Morgen also began clearing rights with Cobain's mother, Wendy Cobain, as well as Geffen Records/Universal Music Group.

However, Frances Bean Cobain, the couple's daughter, has worked closely with Morgen on the HBO/Universal Pictures documentary and was satisfied with the director's vision.

 

Morgen said that Love gave him access to the rich archive, much of which has never been before.

The American film director also believes that Cobain's widow might not even see the film, which sources revealed that it will premiere in January at Sundance, followed by small- and big-screen releases in 2015.
