Criticising the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at for inaction against those raising Pakistani and ISIS flags in Srinagar, the Congress party on Saturday asked if the former will remain content raising slogans of nationalism or take action to save the nation.
"Congress wants to ask BJP if they will just raise slogans of nationalism or will the Central government do something to save the nation?.... Ever since the BJP came to power in Centre and BJP-PDP formed government in Jammu and Kashmir, such forces have come up. No appropriate action is being taken," Congress leader RPN Singh said at a press conference.
"When the Prime Minister met Nawaz Sharif in Ufa, he said historic breakthrough has been achieved. Is this what historic breakthrough is," he added.
Pakistani and ISIS flags were waved in Srinagar for the second consecutive day today during the protest over the house arrest of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
According to reports, Geelani was not allowed to offer prayers in a mosque on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr as he remained under house arrest since his return from New Delhi on April 15.
