Accusing the Congress government in Assam of having failed to stop infiltration from Bangladesh, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that the government at the Centre will completely seal the Indo-Bangladesh border to stop intrusion.

"Congress had destroyed Assam. It seems that there was no governance in Assam. Since independence, since Bangladesh was formed, there has been intrusion. We just want some time and we will seal the India-Bangladesh border completely so that no Bangladesh intruder can come in," Singh said while addressing a public rally ahead of the assembly polls here.

He further said that nobody can point a finger at the BJP and say that they indulged in corruption.

"Why didn't you (Congress) seal the borders? Why didn't you stop them from entering into our land? They are not interested in all this. Never did they paid attention to such issues. Whoever is coming, they (Congress) let them come, whoever is going, they let them go, this is Congress's attitude. Does a country work like this?" he asked.

Home Minister Singh will address three more election rallies of BJP in Assam today where Assembly elections will be held in two-phases on April 4 and 11.

Election to constituencies in Upper Assam will be held in the first phase on April 4.

The Home Minister will also attend two election rallies in West Bengal on Thursday before returning to the national capital.

Singh will again address several election rallies in Assam on April 6 in the constituencies where the polling will be held in the second phase.
