Jose Padilha has revealed that he believes the reality of a "Robocop" in U.S. military isn't science-fiction any more.
In a conversation about the automation of violence in combat, the director of '80s cult classic reboot of 'Robocop' told Fox News that the army already has the drones and they will have robots soon as well.
He insisted that it's going to happen, which means that every single country will have to have legislation and decide whether they're going to use robots for war or not and will have to negotiate with the U.N.
Padilha added that this was a real issue, as using robots in warfare is bigger than using drones.
It was earlier reported that Gen. Robert Cone, head of the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command, had acknowledged that robotic warfare is coming and the Army is working toward becoming "a smaller, more lethal, deployable and agile force" by replacing soldiers with robots and unmanned platforms.
