The killing and mutilation of Indian army soldier Mandeep Singh in an encounter close to the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Machhal sector, has led the Congress to ask the NDA government to give a befitting reply to Pakistan and not let the sacrifice of this son of Haryana soil go to waste.

Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala told ANI, "We have lost dozens of our soldiers and the locals have suffered a huge loss of life and property. When our son from Haryana's soil, Mandeep Singh, who gave his supreme sacrifice for the nation on Diwali, the question that now arises is whether this sacrifice by our soldier will get wasted, or will the government give a befitting reply to Pakistan?"
 

During the encounter, one of the terrorists mutilated the body of the soldier before fleeing into PoK.
