William Hurt is set to take the lead role in the upcoming TV show 'Humans.'

The AMC/Channel 4 sci-fi drama series, which is based on the Swedish series 'Real Humans', would be produced by Kudos Film and Television, Deadline.com reported.

The show would be set in a parallel present where 'Synth,' a highly-developed robotic servant similar to its live counterpart, is the latest must-have gadget for any busy family.

Hurt will play the role of George Millican in the show, which also stars Katharine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill and Gemma Chan, a widower who has grown close to his out-of-date synth Odi, and treats more like a son than a piece of machinery.
