Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was reportedly approached by an electronic cigarette company to become the face of their brand after he was photographed outside a nightclub smoking a cigarette.
Wilshere has defended himself against the pictures by tweeting pictures of Zinedine Zidane smoking, although Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has publicly criticised the England international.
According to the Mirror, electronic cigarette company Neo director Estee Oren said that they have offered the player a 'significant sum' to officially endorse their product as a healthier alternative to smoking.
However, Oren added that it is understandable that photos showing Wilshere puffing on a cigarette has caused a controversy as he is a professional footballer and a role model to millions of young fans.
